Welcome to the BACK MOUNTAIN BLOOMERS Garden Club’s web site. As you scroll through our pages, please note that the club is a social organization, composed of "like-afflicted souls" with a passion for gardens and plants. Yes, we grow with passion and purpose with a view to beauty, life, and the cycles of seasons.
The club was established in 1988 to advance the garden interests and knowledge of its members and to participate in beautification projects and other community activities that promote the preservation of nature and natural resources. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or any other basis of discrimination prohibited by law.
Membership in the Bloomers provides an opportunity to “green” one’s thumb, expand knowledge and skills, and build long friendships while bettering the community and the environment.
In return for these amenities, we expect our volunteers to be active and engaged in committees and club projects, and in fund raising through our biennial events, primarily the Garden Tour and the Speaker’s luncheon.
As you scroll through our web site, particularly the Community Projects section, you will see that the club has provided some seed money for scouts, schools, and other environmental group projects. We used some of our grant money for a Bloomers’ beautification project called “Bloomin’ Byways”, a major effort of planting daffodil bulbs in the lovely Back Mountain area. And we also launched a “Bloomin’ Bouquets” project where we grow and pick flowers and deliver them to local nursing homes. Be sure to follow this site for more details on projects and announcements of events like the biennial Garden Tour and Speaker’s luncheon.
